Mullenweg: Who is to say an old, insecure platform is insecure?
Uh-oh. The creator of Wordpress thinks PHP 4 succeeded in places like Web 2.0 because of its non-existent strengths. At least the MovableType guys ignored users the right way by ignoring their call for a lightweight and flexible weblogging system that doesn’t require two beans and a hammer to install. Mullenweg is ignoring his users … because he really likes PHP 4. Oh, and he disagrees with the depreciation of a seven-year old language with an equally old library that was made long before the days of XSS and CSRF. Maybe somebody should remind Mullenweg that Wordpress is not Samson: Any weblogging system that supports the plug-in system and the database structure can replace Wordpress. I doubt people are sticking around for awesome shades of blue on their administration console or the umpteenth XML-RPC exploit.
