In transit.

I took Maria up to see the clouds far above us in Heaven and the ant-people far below us in transit from one office building to another. Busy, busy, busy. The wind shook the pebbles on this rooftop and snatched Maria’s hat from her. She gasped a little, and then it was quiet again. I began intoning the words of dead poets. Maria crinkled her nose. “Shut up,” she said. I did; I held her close against me. She pushed me. I pushed her. We jumped. We jumped because we could only plummet or fly, and who wouldn’t risk everything to fly when all the busy, busy, busy could only walk?

If you’re a fan of stormy, blue atmospheric photography—be they of statues or architecture or other things you’ve never seen manipulated so artfully—then you must already be a fan of Jen K. (ether), whose work on DeviantArt consistently makes DeviantWatch the feature I use the most on the website. The wallpaper I’m using right now is “oubliette”.
