I think there’s an xkcd cartoon that is way too underused when it represents a sort of paradigm for flexibility for countering arguments that fly in the face of reality like jokes that really aren’t funny and people should really stop laughing at them. For example, regarding Nintendo:

… how long has it been since the “revolutions” of touch screen and motion-sensing gameplay have actually been more fun than high definition uber-realism? … Have fun creating shameless clones …
